In a corner.

&I think back to Monday when my dad drove us to Rite Aid after school because he needed to get some prescription and he bought me some Award-Winning Thrifty Ice Cream.

&I remember standing on the corner of the intersection finishing up my ice cream before I got into the car, and waiting for Daddy to get his drugs.

&I remember looking at the street signs and realizing we were on Lincoln Blvd. at the intersection where Brooks Avenue becomes Lake Street.

&I remember looking at the four corners of the intersection: The run-down Cafe 50's that was once probably popular, but now only attracts the old men who can't let go; Allen's Aquarium where we used to buy our fish and I would always want something else like a snake or a bunny before they burnt down and had to rebuild the place, even though it was never the same again; the old car repair shop with two old Chevy's in the lot that seemed like they'd been sitting there for more than a year; and the Rite-Aid, the cleanest of all four, where I stood, surveying it all, and I was wondering if this is how I am in life.

Am I always on the safest cleanest corner eating my cookie dough ice cream and looking down upon those who stand across the street?

&most of all I remember when I thought I was in love. I fucking want to be in love, god damn it. And with someone who loves me.

&fuck.
